Around 15,000 guest beds, over 2.6 million overnight stays in hotels, boarding houses and apartments and around 1.5 million day visitors per year.
This is how Bad F\u00fcssing presents itself as a spa resort today. However, the success story of the Lower Bavarian spa is just 70 years old. When test drilling was carried out on a field not far from the hamlet of F\u00fcssing in 1938, nobody thought that such a huge treasure would be discovered.
Back then, Bad F\u00fcssing was a rural hamlet with 6 farms. Instead of the precious natural gas or crude oil that was hoped for at the time, only 56 degree Celius warm water gushed from the springs.
The extraordinary healing power of the thermal water was soon discovered and scientifically proven as early as 1953. The Bad F\u00fcssing water has almost ideal conditions for the treatment of certain diseases of the skin, muscles or joints. Word quickly spread about the complete healing or at least alleviation of certain complaints. So it was only logical that action should be taken.
In the 1960s, major construction projects were on the agenda: the Kurmittelhaus was built, the spa park was laid out and thermal springs 2 and 3 were drilled.
The small Kurhaus and the Johannesbad Clinic with treatment center and bathing facilities were built and opened.<\/h4>


In 1969, the title \u201cBad\u201d was finally awarded and added to the town’s name. There was no stopping its development into Europe’s largest spa resort. As early as 1973, the number of overnight stays exceeded the million mark for the first time. Even then, however, the Bad F\u00fcssing special-purpose association was aware of the need to offer guests something else in addition to medical treatments. In the years that followed, the recreational and leisure facilities were constantly expanded and improved. Examples include the large spa building with its spa hall, conference and reading rooms and the spa gym.
At the beginning of the new millennium, Bad F\u00fcssing also broke new ground. It is no longer just about getting healthy, but staying fit and healthy.
The sauna courtyard in Therme 1, the Biovital exercise course for strengthening the spine and the Nordic walking route around the spa have been realized. However, this is just a small selection of many examples.
